Topsham Historical Society – What’s Up?

That’s both an answer and a question.

Here’s the answer:

The Society was formed more than a decade ago by Topsham residents who loved history and were acting on requests, often submitted through the Director of Topsham Public Library, to provide a way to learn more about local history. A Board of Trustees was formed and registered as anot-for-profit organization.  There was some resourceful digging to find topics and qualified speakers to share what we hoped were interesting stories ‘sabout Topsham’s past.
Through early 2020, the Society presented as many as nine monthly lectures per year. And then – COVID.
After March 2020, monthly in-person lectures were suspended, and a ZOOM presentation was tried (without much success).
We’ve been in hibernation for over two years, but we’ve been trying to clarify the future.

Here’s the question:

Where do we go from here?

In looking for answers, we are planning a public, in-person meeting for Tuesday evening, November 1, 2022, at 6:30 pm, in thelarge meeting room at the Topsham Public Library.

And this is how you can help us:

Please attend.
Think about what your interest in the future of Topsham Historical Society will be:
o How often would you like to attend presentations?
o Should the subjects be only about Topsham
o Would you like to suggest topics and help with research?
o Would you like to be a presenter?
o Would you like to help to plan meetings and to prepare the room for the presentations?
o Would you like to serve on the Board of Trustees?

So, please join us November 1st…and if you cannot attend but would like to give us your thoughts about any of the above questions, please reply via email.

Remember, Topsham Historical Society is an all-volunteer organization. We have no dues nor fees for presentations, and we donot distribute our mailing list..

UPCOMING PROGRAMS:  DUE TO THE ONGOING COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER MEETING FOR THE TIME BEING.  STAY TUNED!
